I started a mini gallery in my front room yesterday. Now I need to get to painting so that I can fill more of my space. These are all small paintings here. I'm still getting ready for my graduate's open house and I thought that this would be a nice way to spruce up this wall.

Summer of Color Week Three
I have been busy making more cuffs this week for summer of color. I made some extra cuffs this week as well. It has been fun and easy to put all these color combos together and find just the right accents for each one. The color combo for this week was purple and lime green.
I also have a few journal pages to share. The first one is from a Lifebook lesson and the second one is from a family walk.
Have a great week everyone.

Summer of Color Week Two
The colors for this week of Summer of Color are Hot Pink and Orange. These colors remind me of hot summer days eating sherbet. I had a lot of fun working on these each evening this week.
While I have been making cuffs my daughter asked me to make her a steam punk style cuff as well.
Now you know what I have been up to this week art wise. I hope you enjoy all the summer colors.

Summer of Color Week One
I am participating in Summer of Color again this summer. This week the color challenge is to use Citron Green and Turquoise in any kind of project. I dyed fabrics to use in my fabric before I made anything. Here are the fabrics I dyed. The green fabrics were all in the same dye bath, but the silk always comes out lighter than the cottons. I dyed the lighter turquoise this week and the darker piece came from an earlier dye bath that had some other colors mixed in.
I decided to make cuffs this week. These colors look light and fresh to wear for the summer, so it is perfect for here where I live.
.
I hope that you enjoyed this post and come on over and join in on the Summer of Color fun. http://twinkletwinklelikeastar.blogspot.com/2013/06/the-summer-of-color-week-one.html

A Bit Of This And That
I have been busy with my daughter's graduation celebration and all that goes with it, but I have had time to work in a few creative projects. Our party is tomorrow, so after that I will have more free time. I love celebrating my children's accomplishments, but it does make me pretty busy.
This is a journal page to celebrate my graduate.
I had to try out the new stencils from Artistcellar that are pods. This is one page that I made using them.
Here is another page that I made using a different pod stencil from the series.
Here is a close up of the stencil. I put this on with gel medium and then painted over it.
My daughter is a music lover so I used sheets from songs that she played and sang to make a box for her cards at her party.
I made this sign to go on the wall for her party.
That is all I have to share for now, so I'll see you around soon. Next week I'm going to start making art for Summer of Color 2013. You can find more info on that in the side bar.

Watercolor Paintings
I painted a couple of flower paintings in my journal for my Lifebook class. The flowers were painted with Twinkling H2O's which are very shimmery watercolor paints. They are fun to use and I love the shimmer. The colors are intense and beautiful too. I painted the borders with Silks acrylic glaze which is also very shimmery paint. I also added bits of gold paint to add extra shimmer. If you ever have a chance to use these paints I would recommend them.
I am still working on preparing for my daughter's open house, but we only have one more week and then I can create more.
Have a great weekend.

New Painting
I finished this mixed media painting last week and I taught this style of mixed media to a group of mostly teen girls. It was fun teaching and seeing all that they came up with. I am still busy with graduation preparations, but I also started a new painting in my journal. I'll share that when it is done too. For now have a great weekend.

New Pages
I have a few new pages to show off. I haven't had as much time for art lately because of a busy time with my daughter graduating from high school. Soon all the busy work will be over and I can get back to more art. It is nice creating all these family memories though.

Another Bird
I just finished another painting. This one has a mixed media background and another bird painted on top. I also used part of a poem by Emily Dickinson that is one of my favorites.
Have a wonderfully creative weekend. I have been very busy with preparations for my daughter's birthday and her graduation from high school. Later in the summer I will have more time for art.

More Wonky Birds
I painted my first set of wonky birds on one side of an accordion folded piece of mixed media paper. Now I have finished painting four more birds on the other side of the paper. I am also going to show you how I added this paper to my journal.
To add this art to my journal I started with a strip of card stock that I had used to clean some extra ink off of a stencil.
I cut and folded strips off of the the piece of card stock.
This is the paper with the birds on both sides.
Here I slipped the folded card stock underneath the binding thread that the journal is sewed together with.
I glued each side of the card stock to the bottom panel of the painting.
Now my birds have a home in between two pages of my journal and I can open out the folded painting and view both sides.
Have a wonderfully creative week,
Janelle
