Book of Days

I have a couple more pages to share from my journal.  Since the musical is over I have more time to work on art. I am also working on a lesson from my Lifebook class right now, so I will post that when I am done.

I used modeling paste and artist chalks to make the sunflower.    I used a stencil and put the modeling paste through it.  I got this idea from Donna Downey.

ATC give-away

Trish Bee is giving away a wonderful collection of her ATCs.  Check it out and visit her blog here.

My daughter, Katrina, took a few spring pictures that I thought I would share with everyone.  I love her style.

Hello from a rainy day.

My daughter had state solo & ensemble this last Friday.  She did very well so I wanted to share a bit of her singing.  The video isn't very good quality and she sounds much more amazing in person, but this gives you a taste.

I have been working on prayer flags off and on this past week.  I have three of them done now, so I thought that I would share.

A glimpse of my life

I have a lot going on right now.  This is the last week for my daughter's musical so I'm at practice for long hours each evening this week.  I'm also making prayer flags for a swap.  I am looking forward to seeing them flutter in the wind.  I am also enjoying the sights and sounds of spring.  So far we have had very warm weather this year- much warmer than is normal.  I'm soaking up the sun a bit each day.  Here are a few pictures to enjoy.

These are all taken backstage at the musical.  There is so much wonderful energy even though everyone is tired from the long hours.

Here are a few pictures of wonderful things happening in my yard.

This is a pretty napkin that I am going to use in my art someday.

Here are a few prayer flags that I am working on. I started out by making gelatin mono-prints.  Then I added some more color and details.  I also have been putting some stitching on these. They aren't done yet so stay tuned for more details.

Have a great week,

Bits and pieces

My kids broke one of their toys, so I dissembled it to get out all the bits and pieces.  I love the bright gears.  Now I have some fun pieces to use in my art.

Have a great weekend

Lucky Clover

My sister needs a kids art project for this week, so we borrowed this idea from Daniele.  My niece wanted to have a Saint Patrick's Day theme since her class will be making these on Friday.  I showed my sister the technique and her and my niece made this little project out of recycled materials.

We used parts of styrofoam cups and a styrofoam tray to make the clovers.  This is a great project for kids and adults as well.

More Costumes

Here are my daughter's costumes for Hello Dolly.  She doesn't have her hair done or stage makeup on in these photos, but she does have her complete costume pieces.

Next week I will have a chance to take photos the actors in full costume and makeup.  I will share those later.  The show starts on March 22, so pretty soon I will be done with costuming for a while and then back to art.

Here are a couple of my recent art.  One if for my lifebook class and one is from my book of days journal.
This is one of the goofiest paintings that I have done and a lot of fun too.

Sister Tree

I am still finishing up a few costumes for Hello Dolly and I am going to start making prayer flags later this week for a swap.  I am still busy busy, but life should slow down a tiny bit after next week.

Costume time

I have been working on musical costumes pretty constantly.  I do have a few transformations to share now and a few more sometime next week.  Here they are:

Have a great weekend!  I will hopefully catch up on everyone's blogs soon after all the musical sewing is done.
