BOD

This is my latest spread in my art journal.

I wrote some things that I could do to make my world a better place.

I added writing about my daughter going off to college at the end of the week.

I added texture with mesh tape from the hardware store.
Have a great week,
Janelle

Lifebook

I recently finished one of my Lifebook lessons, so I thought that I would share it.  This one has a lot of layers and is all about creating a safe house for the child that was you to live in.

Happy creating,
Janelle

Birthday sewing

I made another cloak, this one for my son's fifth birthday.  He really wanted his own cloak so that he can play the hero.  I used the same pattern that I used for my niece last month.  I made both cloaks different to suit each child.  His was made from blue linen look fabric and lined with grey flannel.

I added a fancy stitch that my machine can make to all the edges.

I used a hook closure.
Have a creative week,
Janelle

Nature sun prints

The kids and I did a bit of sun printing this summer using leaves from our yard.  I used transparent fabric paint that was watered down and sprayed squares of cotton fabric with water til they were damp and sticking to my plastic table.  We then painted the cotton with the paint and laid down the leaves and pressed them down so that they stuck to the fabric.  Then we let it dry in the sun and as the fabric dries it leaves the print of whatever you put on top of the fabric.  We will have to explore this technique a lot more.   It is fun, quick, and easy for the kids to do.

Sewing projects

I have been working on more prayer flags and a few other small sewing projects recently.  I have been making fabric bracelets trying out different methods to see what works best.  I have been practicing my hand sewing also.

I am going to stitch my daughter's name at the top.

I am still working on adding vines and more hand stitching to this flag.

My daughter went through the scraps of fabric from my hand dyes to pick out the pieces that she wanted for her bracelet. It wraps around her arm three times. I did a lot of free motion stitching over the fabrics.
Next on my to do list is to make a cloak for my son's birthday and a pirate shirt for my sister's birthday.  I will be spending the next few days at my sewing machine.
Have a great week,
Janelle

A new art journal spread

I have been working in my BOD journal this past week, doing a little each day.  I have just finished this spread.  I put a lot of layers in it, paint, ink, tissue paper, book pages, UTEE, tags, stamps, collage, and water soluble oil pastels.  I made this spread about peace and I used images and quotes that speak of peace to me.

Next week I plan to share more of the sewing projects that I have been working on.
Have a great weekend,
Janelle
